We believe that it is important and proper for our clients to understand the basis of our charges for the services we provide. Most legal work is billed to our clients on the basis of time expended. An hourly rate of compensation is quoted at the initial conference. This rate is determined by the attorney after considering the complexity of the representation, the amount in controversy, and other factors. We also take into consideration any time deadlines imposed by our client or by the circumstance of a particular case, as well as the likelihood that the acceptance of a particular case may preclude our firm from being engaged in another matter. Our firm follows a customary practice of requesting a security retainer at the initial stages of a new matter which is deposited into the client trust account. These funds deposited remain your property until they are earned by our office at the quoted hourly rate for office and court time for services rendered and costs expended on your behalf. Pursuant to our retainer agreement, we may also request a deposit for costs and expenses that are anticipated. The amount of attorney time and effort involved in an action varies greatly. Attorney time depends on the circumstances of the parties, the nature and extent of the problems that are involved. There will be certain costs and attorney time involved in litigating issues.
